“No matter where you live in Australia Counselling can come to you”

Meet Brooke, Founder of Thriving Minds Counselling

Hello and welcome, we are so glad you are here. My name is Brooke, and I am the founder of Thriving Minds Counselling. With a background in Social Work, my passion has always been within the counselling space. I bring to the practice over 20 years of experience in the Human Services Sector, and a wealth of knowledge and expertise in many areas and modalities of counselling. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with young children, teens, and families in both individual and group settings. I am passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges, using a trauma-informed approach that prioritises safety, respect, and empowerment in every session.

I bring an in-depth understanding of the Australian Education System, and the unique difficulties young people face throughout their schooling years, socially, emotionally, and systematically. My hands-on experience navigating these challenges alongside my clients has allowed me to support young people in overcoming obstacles and build resilience as they move through their academic journey.

I also bring significant experience working with individuals and families around disabilities and navigating the complexities of diagnoses. My aim is to provide a compassionate and understanding space where families can feel supported as they navigate challenges and create pathways for growth and success. My goal is to help you navigate complex situations with confidence, whilst fostering positive growth and resilience.

I pride myself on being committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community. I work alongside young people to help them navigate their sexuality, fostering self-acceptance, confidence, and resilience. My approach is also to emphasise the importance of consent in all circumstances, guiding my clients through healthy relationship dynamics and respectful boundaries. With a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, I strive to empower young people to embrace their authentic selves and make informed, empowered decisions in their personal lives.

My philosophy is to have a compassionate approach that strives to help young people and families thrive, by creating a supportive environment for healing, growth, and lasting change.

Our Approach

We believe that healing begins in a relaxed and supportive environment where you feel safe, heard, and respected. Our approach is grounded in creating a non-judgmental space where you can express yourself freely, without pressure or expectation. Whether you prefer to connect through telehealth, enjoy the fresh air in an outdoor setting, or feel most at ease in our cozy office, we offer flexible options that cater to your comfort. Our goal is to meet you where you are, ensuring that each session is tailored to your needs, at your pace, and in a setting that fosters your well-being.

Some Of The Challenges We Can Help Navigate:

Support Your Child’s Growth with Child and Adolescent Counselling

Child and adolescent counselling provides young individuals with a safe, nurturing space to express their thoughts and feelings, guiding them through life’s challenges. It helps children and teens build emotional resilience, improve self-esteem, and develop healthy coping mechanisms that will serve them throughout their lives.

Through counselling, young people can better understand their emotions and navigate difficult situations, such as stress, bullying, or family changes. Counselling also offers valuable tools for managing anxiety, depression, or behavioural issues, helping them thrive in school and social settings.

Most importantly, child and adolescent counselling fosters a sense of empowerment, helping youth gain confidence in their ability to face challenges, express themselves, and make positive choices. Give your child or teen the support they need to grow into a resilient, confident, and emotionally healthy individual.

Unlock Your Potential Through Individual Counselling

Individual counselling offers a supportive space to explore your emotions, uncover your strengths, and work through life’s challenges. It helps you establish clear, meaningful goals that align with your values and aspirations, guiding you toward a more fulfilling life. Through the process, you’ll build self-confidence, empowering you to face difficulties with a renewed sense of purpose.

Counselling also fosters resilience, helping you develop the mental and emotional strength to adapt and thrive despite adversity. By managing stress and navigating obstacles, you’ll learn how to cope effectively with life’s demands. For those working through trauma or difficult life events, counselling provides a safe, compassionate environment to process and heal, allowing you to move forward with greater clarity and peace.

Embrace the journey of self-discovery, healing, and personal growth with individual counselling.

Strengthen Family Bonds Through Family-Based Counselling

Family-based counselling provides a safe and supportive environment for families to come together, communicate openly, and address challenges as a unit. It allows families to establish common goals, ensuring that everyone is aligned and working toward a shared vision of growth and healing.

Through counselling, families can build resilience, learn effective strategies to manage stress and navigate difficulties with unity. It offers tools to manage individual and collective goals, helping families move forward with a sense of purpose and direction.

For families facing trauma or significant life events, such as a change in living circumstances, counselling provides a space to process emotions and experiences together, fostering healing and understanding. Most importantly, family counselling works to restore harmony and togetherness, strengthening relationships and nurturing a supportive, loving environment at home.

Build a stronger, more connected family with the help of family-based counselling.

A Trauma-Informed Approach

At Thriving Minds, we take a trauma-informed approach to ensure that every client feels safe, understood, and supported. Trauma-informed care recognises the profound impact that past traumatic experiences can have on an individual’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being. By creating a compassionate and non-judgmental environment, we help clients process their trauma at their own pace, empowering them to heal and rebuild.

We believe that trauma-informed counselling fosters trust and safety, offering clients the tools to regain control over their lives, develop resilience, and build healthier coping mechanisms. It allows individuals to address the root causes of their struggles while learning to manage triggers, reduce symptoms, and enhance their overall quality of life. This approach not only supports healing but also promotes self-empowerment, allowing clients to move forward with strength and confidence.
